Fernando Bugarin, Sr.
Born in Jones, Isabella, Philippines, Mr. Bugarin arrived in the United States in 1924. He first came to Alaska to work for a cannery in Ketchikan in 1925. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Bugarin obtained his high school and college education in the states of Washington and in Oregon, respectively. A widower, he has two children and two grandchildren. He is active in the Filipino Community of Anchorage, Alaska, Inc., and has served as an officer of this organization. Now retired, he pursues his hobbies, including photography and gardening.
Born in Cauayan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, Mr. Bagcal arrived in the United States in 1929. He came to Alaska in 1936 to work for a cannery at Clark's Point. Later, he worked for the government's early warning system called White Alice until he retired.
Married to Elizabeth Pucay Bagcal, they have three children and two grandchildren. Mr. Bagcal is an active member of the Filipino Community of Anchorage, Alaska, Inc., and has served as an officer of this organization. An avid fisherman, he delights in sharing his salmon catch with his many friends, and in spending his vacation in the Philippines.
Born in Claveria, Cagayan, Philippines, Mr. Agron arrived in the United States in 1931. He went to school in the state of Washington, worked as a migrant worker in California, and served in the U.S. Army's first Philippine Regiment during World War II.
Mr. Agron came to Alaska in 1951 to work for the U.S. Corps of Engineers, and later became a civilian employee at Fort Richardson until he retired. He co-founded the Filipino Community of Anchorage, Alaska, Inc., serving as its first president. Married to Pacita Pacis Agron, they have three children and three grandchildren. A self-taught carpenter, he built their family home, and likes to remodel it frequently. He enjoys gardening.
